Brian Schnurr is a partner with Schnurr Kirsh Schnurr Oelbaum Tator LLP, where he practices exclusively in the areas of estate and trust litigation and mental incompetency litigation.  He represents beneficiaries, estate trustees, estate claimants and attorneys under powers of attorney in a wide range of disputes and litigious matters, including Will Contests, Dependant Support Claims, Contested Passings of Accounts, Will Interpretations, Trustee Disputes, Power of Attorney Disputes and Contested Guardianship Applications. 

Brian has extensive experience mediating a wide range of estate disputes.

Brian obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1969, and LL.B. in 1972, both from the University of Toronto.  He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1974.

Brian was a seminar leader and lecturer in the Estate Planning and Administration Section of the Bar Admission course for many years.  He was Head of Section for Estate Planning and Administration from 1984 to 1988 and has been a member of the Estate Rules subcommittee for many years.

Brian has been a frequent lecturer and chairman for estate and trust programmes offered by the Law Society of Upper Canada, Ontario Bar Association and other organizations.  Brian has also been extensively involved in legal education programmes offered within the general community and was named a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in 1992.

Brian has published articles in the Estates, Trust and Pension Journal, and has written programme materials published by the Law Society of Upper Canada and other organizations.  He is the author of  two leading texts in estate law, Estate Litigation and The Annotated Ontario Estate Statutes.

In 2007, Brian was awarded the Ontario Bar Association (Estates & Trust Section) Award for Excellence. Brian is a Certified Specialist in the area of Estates and Trusts Law and has been recognized by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in Canada for the years 2004 to 2012 in the Best Lawyers in Canada survey in the specialty area of Estates and Trusts.
